• 1977-1982: Studied at and graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the Ruhr University of Bochum
• 1987: Obtained doctorate (Dr. rer.oec.) from the Faculty of Economics at the Ruhr University of Bochum
• 1988-1991: Head of Marketing in the area of environmental technology at the Thyssen Group
• 1991-1993: Professor of Business Administration (specialising in Marketing) at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück
• 1992: Commissioned to develop a course of study in Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Brandenburg/Havel
• 1993: Appointed professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Brandenburg/Havel
• Since 1994: Professor at the FHW Berlin / Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL)
• Since 1991: Work on questions of management and technology in the consultancy and training sector
• Various honorary activities in the field of education and higher education policy
