Academic and Professional Career

  • 1980: Diploma in Economics
  • 1982: Diploma in Business Pedagogy
  • 1983-87: Research assistant on research projects of BERLIN-Forschung (a research group) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the FU Berlin and the Technical University (TU) of Berlin.
  • 1987: Obtained doctorate (Dr. rer. pol. )
  • 1988-95: Project leader and head of faculty at the Institute for Futures Studies in Berlin (IZT)
  • 2003-2006 (also 1991-2001): Member of the Berlin city parliament (positions held include environmental spokesperson and spokesperson on the Enquete Commission (“Sustainable Berlin”)
  • since 1996: Professor of Environmental Economics at the FHW Berlin / BSEL

  • since 2002: Chair of the GfN (an association for sustainability, new environmental economics and sustainability-oriented environmental law)
  • since 2006: Manager of the German-Polish Network of Scientists for Sustainable Development
  • since 2007: Member of the board of the association “Berlin 21”
