• Studied at the University of Athens (1986-90) and the University of Edinburgh (1991-92), graduating with a BA in Applied Linguistics
• Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh
• 1989-1999: Freelance work as languages teacher and trainer in adult education in Athens (Greece), Edinburgh (GB) and Berlin; taught HE courses and gave further training seminars for languages teachers
