The Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) awards successful students on this programme the internationally recognised Bachelor of Engineering degree. The programme is located at the interface of business administration and environmental technologies and, by integrating these disciplines, it offers a new set of career opportunities. The knowledge acquired during the degree programme has a wide range of applications in technical and business areas, and is suited to both medium-sized and large companies.
The programme comprises a four-semester Part One (foundation course) and a three-semester Part Two (core, electives). The syllabus provides a solid foundation in business administration as well as science and technology. On this basis, students in Part Two can then increase their knowledge of particular areas though a set of specialised streams.
Part One provides a general foundation of the key economic and engineering skills. Fifty per cent of the mandatory courses focus on environmental economics, business administration, economics, sociology, accounting and law. These courses are taught by BSEL academic staff on the BSEL campus. The other fifty per cent of the mandatory courses in Part One concentrate on maths, science and engineering in courses which (with the exception of statistics) are taught at the Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin. The range of courses is supplemented by Part One subjects taught in English. The seventh semester is reserved for work experience and preparation of the dissertation.
