Programme Details

The International Business Management programme combines classic business administration content with international and intercultural aspects. This international focus is similarly evident in the language of instruction, with all lectures and seminars held in English throughout the entire programme. In addition, students have to learn German as a second language parallel to the economics and business modules.

Part One lasts three semesters. Students are taught in internationally-mixed groups at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL Berlin) where they not only learn the fundamentals of business administration but also the principles underlying other disciplines such as economics, law and the social sciences. In Part Two, the focus on business strategy, internationalisation and the specialised area offers a solid preparation for working in an international company or organisation. During this phase, students also select either the Marketing or Finance and Accounting streams.

After the 4th semester international students have the possibility to stay at the Berlin School of Economics and Law OR to study one or two semesters abroad as "free movers”. They can apply to any school worldwide which offers similar modules as the BSEL. However, the students have to organise the whole process independently as well as finance the stay abroad themselves.

In addition, students also have to complete a supervised work placement semester in a company based either in Germany or abroad during the second part of their studies. The eighth and final semester is for preparing the dissertation at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL Berlin).
