Academic and Professional Career

  • 1981-87: Studied at the university of Düsseldorf, graduating with the first state examination for secondary school teaching (11-19) in Mathematics and Sport
  • 1987-1988: Research assistant in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Düsseldorf – development of computer tomography software
  • 1988-1990: Practical teacher training (seminar in Neuss), graduating with the second state examination
  • 1990-1993: Teacher at the Janusz Korczak Comprehensive School in Bottrop
  • 1993-2009: Full-time lecturer in IT for Public Administration at the University of Applied Labour Studies of the Federal Employment Agency (Faculty of Labour Administration, Schwerin campus)
  • Worked on a variety of software development projects for the head office of the Federal Employment Agency
  • 1999: Diploma in IT from the University for Distance Learning in Hagen; topic of diploma thesis: Application of mathematical models for allocation planning for a distributed database of the Federal Employment Agency (formerly Federal Employment Office)
  • 2008: Doctoral thesis – topic: Sports professions in the context of recent sports developments – an analysis of public labour market data
  • Since March 2009: Professor of Information Technology for Public Administration at the FHVR Berlin (now Berlin School of Economics and Law – BSEL)
