Academic and Professional Career

  • 1966-1975: Studied law at the Free University (FU), Berlin and completed practical legal training under the direction of the Higher Regional Court of Berlin
  • 1975-1977: Research assistant in the Faculty of Law at the FU Berlin
  • 1977-1981: Judge, later judge at the Regional Court of Berlin
  • 1981-1990: Senior civil servant and later head of section at the University of Applied Administrative Sciences in Mayen, Rhineland-Palatinate
  • 1990: Appointed Professor of Public Law at the FHVR Berlin (now Berlin School of Economics and Law – BSEL) – first in the Police Service Faculty, later in the Faculty of Internal Administration
  • 1995-2000: Dean of the Faculty of Internal Administration at the FHVR Berlin
  • 1996-2000: Head of the IWVR (Institute for Knowledge Transfer in Administration and Legal Affairs) at the FHVR Berlin
  • 2005-2007: Dean of the Faculty of General Administration at the FHVR Berlin
  • 2007-2009: Vice-chancellor of the FHVR Berlin
  • Since April 2009: Dean of the Faculty of General Administration at the BSEL
