INAktion - The Support Programme For International Students
Who we are and what we do...
Every year about 50 international students come to Berlin to study at the Berlin School of Economics for one or two semesters. In addition we do have a considerable number of international full-time students. The beginning can be difficult for everybody, especially in a foreign country where the culture is sometimes totally different.
In order to make it easier for our guests to settle in, we have developed a Tutor-programme that looks after and supports our international exchange students. The programme assignes every future exchange student of the FHW to a guest student from the country he/she is about to go studying later.
The contacts between the local students and the international students should be strenghtened and encouraged in as many areas as possible. At first, the social integration of the exchange students should be ensured. On the other hand, the FHW students should have the opportunity to experience international contacts.
The buddies are the first contact persons for all kind of problems, academically or personally.
Our permanent assistance team consists of two students who work on behalf of the International Office of the FHW. They are the heart of the Tutor-programme and official contact persons for the international students, organizing events and meetings.
The International Office staff offers events such as a city-tour, a welcome party, sports contests, grillparties, camping, cruises and movies.
In brief, the Tutor-programme offers both assistance to manage everyday student life and support of intercultural understanding.
