• 1976: Detective officer in the Berlin police force
• Since 1990: High-ranking detective officer in the Berlin CID and part-time lecturer in Faculty 3 of the FHVR, Berlin (now Berlin School of Economics and Law – BSEL)
• Since 1997: Professor of General Criminalistics at the FHVR Berlin / BSEL
