Study and Internship Programme in Germany (SIP)
The Study and Internship Programme (SIP) is a one-year scholarship programme designed specifically for students from the USA and Canada.
Sponsor and target group
SIP is run jointly by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the UAS7, an association of seven leading Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany to promote teaching and research. The funding provided enables SIP students to study for one full semester at a UAS7 university and then have six months of supervised work experience at a company or research institute in Germany.
Each UAS7 University is offering at least four scholarships a year for applicants from partner universities in Canada or the USA. The requirements for applications to the SIP programme include academic achievement, study proposal, and motivation. Although German language skills are not mandatory, they are certainly an advantage. The decision on applications is taken by a selection committee (UAS7 and DAAD), whereby the DAAD and UAS7 are agreed that scholarship applicants from partner universities will be given priority for the 35 UAS7 scholarships.
The online application form is available from the DAAD, which is the main SIP organiser. You can contact the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) for more details by emailing isperber@fhw-berlin.de.
