Before Heading Home – Last Steps

Leaving Berlin involves more than just packing your suitcase! International students also have to deal with some final administrative matters before they head for home. These are some of the most important:

• Giving notice to your German health insurance (send your health insurance ID card back to the insurance company or hand it in to the International Office)
• Giving notice on your accommodation within the specified deadline; if you have a place in a student residence, you'll have to make an appointment with the caretaker to check that everything is orderly and hand over the key (you can get detailed information directly from your student residence office)
• Closing your German bank account
• Registering notice of departure at one of Berlin's Citizens Advice Offices (Bürgeramt)

For your study records:

Please remember to fill out the "Information on ECTS Certification" form (sent by email at the end of the semester) and hand it in to the International Office.
