Marcus Speh Birkenkrahe is Professor of Business Information Systems (esp. Application Software) at the Berlin School of Economics. His current research areas are: knowledge management, aesthetics of information architectures, and digital lifestyle and learning communities. Prior to his academic appointment, he participated in the development of the World Wide Web, worked as an executive for Royal Dutch Shell and Accenture in the UK, and as a visiting professor at the University of Auckland Business School (NZ).
