UAS7 – Alliance of Seven Universities of Applied Sciences
UAS7 is the strategic alliance of seven leading German universities of applied sciences with international orientation committed to excellence in teaching and research.
It was founded in 2005 by the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) and six other members. Back then UAS7 primarily strived to further develop the scope and quality of the academic exchanges with US and Canadian universities as well as collaborative research efforts. The alliance cooperates closely with DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service. To promote the exchange of American and German students within courses and internships, UAS7 operates a liaison office in the German Consulate building at United Nations Plaza in New York. Because of agreements with American universities German students are not charged for taking part in study programmes in the States.
With the foundation of a registered association in July 2007 the network got a legal basis that allows the widening of joint activities. The seven universities of applied sciences are known for their high standards in teaching and practical research. As an alliance they strive to advance scientific projects with international orientation and pursue jointly formulated quality standards.
Chairman of the UAS7 alliance is the president of the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL), Professor Bernd Reissert. Also member of the board are Ute von Lojewski, president of Münster University of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Karin Luckey, president of Bremen University of Applied Sciences.
