From 30 October to 11 November 2020, the Department of Cooperative Studies will be hosting the Berlin International Week on the Lichtenberg campus of HWR Berlin.

Overview

  • Seminars, workshops & case studies about sustainability, responsibility and selected focal topics (e.g. climate, sustainable entrepreneurship)
  • Field trips and discussions with companies, NPOs and NGOs
  • Project work on a real-life challenge provided by companies and not-for-profit organizations to contribute to one of the sustainability goals of the United Nations (SDGs)
  • Pitching the results of project work to jury composed of project partners and professors
  • International lecturers from different parts of the world
  • Online teaching and participation options in case of restrictions because of COVID19

  • Microeconomic foundations of sustainability and CSR: Market failures and opportunism risks
  • Basics of CSR and sustainability
  • Ethical foundations of CSR and sustainability
  • The political and legal framework of CSR and sustainability
  • Psychological aspects of sustainability
  • Sustainable Development Goals
  • Focal topics: Climate change; Sustainable Entrepreneurship; Corona and Sustainability

Future Workshop and Project work

  • Field trips (e. g. Visit of an Urban Farming Project)
  • Real-life challenge / Project Work based on Service Design methodology (e.g. develop a sustainable mobility solution)

Participation:

  • Free attendance for HWR Berlin students as well as for (exchange) students from our partner Universities and students enrolled at other German Universities
  • Guest student fee of 85 € (full programme) and 65 € (partial programme I or II) for all other participants

Participation options, credits and workload:

Full programme (30 October – 11 November)¹:

  • Participation at the entire week (including online coaching for project work)
  • Submission of project paper until 23 December
  • 100 lecture hours, 50 additional study hours (5 ECTS)²

Partial programme I – Theory (30 October – 7 November)¹:

  • Workshops, seminars and field trips
  • Reflection task (presentation and written report)
  • 65 lecture hours, 25 additional study hours (3 ECTS)³

Partial programme II - Project work (6 November – 11 November; virtual project kick off mid of October)¹:

  • Project Kickoff (as a virtual meeting in October 2020)
  • Future workshop and sustainable Innovation seminar
  • Reflection tasks (only presentation)
  • Project work + submission of project paper until 23 December
  • 52 lecture hours, 38 additional study hours (3 ECTS)³

1 Dates refer to lecture times at HWR campus. Project preparation and virtual project kick-off as well as time for elaboration of written assignment is not included.

Credits for full programme can be assigned for students of Business Administration of HWR Berlin Department of Cooperative studies / students that register within General Studies / Studium Generale; for partial programmes only for students that register within General Studies / Studium Generale Other students please contact your home institution.
