PC lab for business information systems

In the PC lab, students on the bachelor's in Business Informatics degree program can practice using standard business software products.

Theoretical knowledge learned from the courses can be applied, examined and deepened through practical projects and planning games.

Goals

Support of exercises and internships in the following modules:

  • Object oriented programming
  • Business information systems
  • Databases
  • Computer architectures, operating systems and networks
  • Enterprise modelling
  • Information and communication management
  • E-commerce and WEB hosting
  • Optimisation and simulation
  • Analytical information systems
  • Cooperation with business enterprises
  • Supervision of projects and theses in business informatics
  • Continuous provision and maintenance of PCs, servers, networks and software.


Facilities

The PC lab is spread over two rooms with state-of-the-art multimedia technology, providing a total of 32 workstations. Of course, access to the services is also possible via WLAN and VPN.

The 20 virtual business informatics servers provide the following services:

  • Web server (Apache, php, tomcat)
  • SVN server
  • Database systems (Oracle, MS-SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Linux application server
  • Business Process Management INCOME Suite
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV, CRM and AX
  • MS Sharepoint Server

The following software systems are installed on the PCs with personalized Microsoft and Linux desktops:

  • Java, C/C++, MS Visual Studio .NET development environments
  • Database modelling system Power Designer
  • UML modelling tools
  • MS Visio
  • SAP GUI with access to mySAP Enterprise, SAP Business Warehouse, SEM
  • Multimedia development tools
  • SPSS, Clementine, SIMUL8
