HWR Berlin libraries
The HWR Berlin offers its students, professors, lecturers and employees a comprehensive library service at any time.
Both library locations are open at the following times:
Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Extended opening hours on Campus Lichtenberg
From December 1, 2020 to December 11, 2020 the library on Campus Lichtenberg is open:
Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Both library locations will be closed from December, 21 2020 to January, 2 2021.
Borrowing and returning items
Media can be borrowed and returned for members of the HWR in the library at both locations without making an appointment or ordering the media.
If you would like to borrow or return media, please come to the library during the opening hours.
Please note that we can only give access to 10 people to the library stock at a time. If the maximum number of people is reached, there occure waiting periods, please plan this when you visit.
For traceability of infection chains, we need to collect contact information from everyone entering the library. Therefore, please bring your CampusCard or an ID document with you.
Please enter the entrance area of the library as individually as possible and without accompanying persons.
Opening of the reading rooms
At both locations of the library, members of the HWR can once again work on individual workstations within the libraries with presence copies and magazines from the library stock.
Use of the workstations on site is only possible after making an appointment via our Moodle course Appointment Reservation for reading room use in the library.
Working in the library is only possible at the workplace that is personally assigned on site. Group work is generally not permitted due to the distance regulations to be observed. If you cannot keep your appointment, please use the cancellation function "cancel reservation" in Moodle so that others have the opportunity to work in the library.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer you the following services on site:
- Use of research PCs and computer workstations in the library on the Lichtenberg campus. Please research the shelf marks of the books you need from home or your smartphone.
- Independent printing, copying and scanning on the devices in the library
- Information and advice on research (only by phone or email)
- Payment of fees on site in cash
The carrels in the library on the Schöneberg campus can be used again. Please register by email to hsb.cs(at)hwr-berlin.de.
We would be happy to continue scanning individual articles from printed journals from the library's stock for you in compliance with copyright law. Please send us an email to hsb.cl(at)hwr-berlin.de or hsb.cs(at)hwr-berlin.de .
The mouth-nose protection obligation applies at both library locations!Please keep the minimum distance of 2 meters when waiting.

Good to know: The matriculation number with the faculty addition (for example 7721 for faculty 1 - economics) is also the user numberfor the university library. You can find this if you create your library password using Bibkey.

All other library users of HWR Berlin can register at the information counter of the library. Please have your ID card and a university membership document with you.

Students simply change the library password via Bibkey by entering their general ID.
