Information technology and telecommunications are increasingly central in business and economic processes in the corporate world and in organisations. This interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree aims to provide the essential expertise in the core business content and methods in Business Informatics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law and Economics.


This programme focuses especially on applied skills that have a solid foundation in theory and method. The modules also teach and apply team and communication skills.

Career Prospects

The Berlin School of Economics (FHW) awards successful students on this programme the internationally recognised degree of Bachelor of Sciences (B.Sc.). The degree is acknowledged as the requirement for post-graduate programmes. Graduates can be expected to apply to business and administration, where they will be entrusted with demanding tasks in designing, planning, implementing and managing complex IT projects to support operational business processes.

Programme Details

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems takes seven semesters (prescribed period of study). The Bachelor's degree is the pre-requisite for post-graduate study on a Master's programme.


The programme comprises a Part One lasting three semesters and a Part Two of four semesters. Lectures and seminars in particular subjects are taught in English in both Part One and Part Two. The sixth semester is reserved for the integrated supervised work experience phase. The final semester is for the preparation of the dissertation.

Admission Requirements and Selection Procedure

Admission Requirements

  • Academic qualifications meeting the general requirements for admission to a University or University of Applied Sciences, or professional qualifications allowing University admission as specified in §11 of the Law on Institutions of Higher Education in the State of Berlin (Berliner Hochschulgesetz ‑ BerlHG).
  • German language university entrance exam for foreign students.
  • Proof* (only for the full-time programme) of very good English language skills at Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B1 level.

* Suitable proof of English language skills:
A language exam such as TOEFL (min. 407 paper based, 100 computer based) or continuous English lessons at least up to the German 10th grade or equivalent or completing the secondary school certificate (German 10th grade or equivalent) or meeting the requirements to study at a University of Applied Sciences or having bilingual school education in English or being an English>native speaker.

Restricted Admission

Where there are more applicants than places, programmes follow a NC (numerus clauses) procedure.
