On September 9th the HWR Berlin welcomed this year’s cohort of 261 exchange students from the HWR Berlin’s partner universities across the world. During the three-week Welcome Period proceeding the start of the new semester, exchange students at the HWR Berlin will receive support and advice on all matters related to their stay and studies in Berlin.

Form-filling and other bureaucratic tasks can be one of the more daunting aspects of studying abroad, with this in mind exchange students can attend a day dedicated to supporting them with filling in local registration forms etc. Representatives from public health insurance providers will also be present, providing healthy snacks and advice for overseas students regarding appropriate health insurance coverage.

Red Tape Day is just one of the many activities and services provided for exchange students at the HWR Berlin during the Welcome Period. For other questions regarding their studies and life in Berlin they can visit the dedicated Welcome Point open daily or reach out to their ‘buddy‘ – a full-time HWR Berlin student who has applied to offer a help and a friendly face to incoming exchange students.

A range of cultural and leisure activities in Berlin have also been organised so that exchange students can discover more about their new home city and get to know fellow exchange students. Last but not least students can take part in free German preparatory courses to learn the basics required for life in Berlin or brush up on their existing German skills.

The 261 exchange students come from the HWR Berlin’s international partner universities across the globe and alongside building upon the school’s international atmosphere and exchange, they also ensure that HWR Berlin students have the opportunity to study abroad as part of their studies.
