Semester ticket

Your CampusCard also serves as your semester ticket. As a student of the HWR Berlin, your semester ticket entitles you to free travel through Berlin and its surroundings for one semester.

The semester ticket, also known as "Studi-Ticket" or "Semtix", is a travel pass for students which is valid for one semester in the fare zone Berlin ABC on local public transport of the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB). The semester ticket entitles you to travel on the underground and suburban railways, buses, trams, ferries and regional trains. Please note: Special services and extra tours are not included.

The news record is not available anymore.

The semester ticket is included in your semester fee

The semester ticket was introduced by law and is subject to negotiation between the HWR Berlin General Students‘ Committee and the public transport authorities.

Students at the HWR Berlin pay for the semester ticket within the scope of the semester fee due as part of the enrolment and re-enrolment process. This fee is not conditional upon use. A vote by HWR Berlin students endorsed the provision of the semester ticket. Payment for the semester ticket is due upon enrolment and re-enrolment.

Valid only with your official ID card

The semester ticket is non-transferable and valid only with your official ID card. The semester ticket entitles its holder to travel on the entire VBB network (fare zone ABC) for the duration of a semester. Many universities have issued regulations which provide for dispensations freeing students from paying the semester ticket fee.

The semester ticket is an example of social funding and can only be provided at an affordable price if every student contributes to the cost. Students can opt out of paying the fee if they meet one of eight criteria specified on the homepage of the General Students‘ Committee.

Important information!

All important information and the forms required to make an application are available on the homepage of the General Students‘ Committee. Should none of the eight opt-out criteria apply, please do not make an application.
