DAAD Prize for foreign students

The Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst (German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD) gives German universities the opportunity to honour its international students. In addition to winning a certificate, there is also a prize to the value of € 1,000. The annual award is organised by Central Student Counselling at the HWR Berlin.

Target group

International Bachelor's and Master’s students at the HWR Berlin with outstanding academic performance and non-academic engagement where possible.

Students undertaking a Bachelor's programme should be in part two of their studies (starting from the 4th semester). Students undertaking a Master’s programme should be enrolled in their 2nd semester at the very least. It is also possible to nominate former students whose last examination was no more than three months ago.

The prize is aimed exclusively at foreign students; students who do not have a German higher education entrance qualification (school-leaving qualifications and/or Bachelor's degree).

Nomination and selection

The Degree Programme Managers are able to nominate students from their degree programme with a letter of reference to Central Student Counselling. The nominees must also submit their CV, proof of academic performance and other references/certificates where applicable. The prize-winner will be chosen by the selection panel after the nomination deadline has expired.

Students may not submit their own applications. Students meeting the award criteria are free to contact the Degree Programme Manager and clarify their nomination.
