Information on the processing of personal data by the university communications department and the international office at HWR Berlin

With this privacy notice, HWR Berlin fulfills its obligation to provide information under Articles 13 and 14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) regarding the processing of personal data by the University Communications Office and the International Office of HWR Berlin. With regard to other terms used, such as “personal data,” “processing,” “controller,” “third party,” etc., please refer to the definitions in Article 4 of the EU GDPR.

2. Personal data processed and purposes

The following personal data is processed:

  • Last name, first name
  • Email address

The data is used solely for the purpose of contacting you and sending you information about the event.

3. Legal basis for data processing

The legal basis for the processing is consent to the processing of data pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. There is no contractual or legal obligation to provide the data. Consent is voluntary. The lawfulness of the processing remains unaffected until consent is withdrawn.

4. Data transfers

Your personal data will not be disclosed to third parties.

5. Data storage and deletion periods

Personal data is retained for a maximum of 3 years and then deleted. It is stored on our internal servers.

6. Your rights as a data subject

As a data subject, you may exercise the rights granted to you under the EU GDPR at any time:

  • The right to information when personal data is collected (Art. 13 GDPR),
  • the right to know whether and which of your data is being processed (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • the right to request the rectification or completion of data concerning you (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • the right to erasure of data concerning you in accordance with Art. 17 of the EU GDPR,
  • the right to request restriction of processing of the data in accordance with Art. 18 of the EU GDPR,
  • the obligation to notify you in connection with the rectification or erasure of personal data or the restriction of processing (Art. 19 of the GDPR).

7. Right of Withdrawal

ou have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time with future effect; however, such withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the data processing carried out on the basis of your consent prior to the withdrawal.

8. Other Rights

10. Current Status, Changes, and Validity of the General Privacy Policy

This general privacy policy is current as of November 2024. We reserve the right to update this privacy policy periodically to reflect current legal requirements and technical changes, and to ensure that our services and offerings comply with data protection regulations. We will notify you of any significant changes to the legal framework.
