UKollaborate project at HWR Berlin

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is funding the HWR Berlin project for three years as part of the HAW.International program.

What is UKollaborate all about?

UKollaborate aims to strengthen and expand university partnerships between HWR Berlin and its long-standing partner universities in the United Kingdom. The aim is to expand and deepen existing cooperation through a diverse portfolio of cooperation formats. Beyond traditional student exchanges, the project promotes innovative formats of cooperation such as COIL, project-based cooperation with UK partners, and interdisciplinary short-term mobility formats. In addition, the UKollaborate project explores possible ways to further dual degree programs and the development of joint formats in order to strengthen institutional relationships in the long term. The DAAD funding covers a conception phase, partner visits, networking events, and short-term mobility for students.

Teaching projects and certificate program

During the three-year funding period, professors from various departments at the HWR will implement teaching projects on various topics with British partner universities. In addition, a certificate program for students is to be developed, which will be tested for the first time in 2027.

In November 2026, UK Partner Days will be organized at the Schöneberg campus, to which teachers and colleagues from our British partner universities will be invited to the HWR. As part of this program, HWR members will have the opportunity to learn about our partner universities, get in touch with colleagues, and, if applicable, present their own projects.

Since 2019, HWR Berlin has been consistently successful in applying for third-party funding in the DAAD's HAW.International program. This success is now continuing with the project funding of “UKollaborate.”
