University Day 2026

Think – Connect – Move: University Day 2026

On 28 May 2026, our campus will be transformed into a hub of activity for everyone associated with the university. Instead of regular lectures, there will be opportunities for inspiration, networking and social debate. Our University Day 2026 will focus entirely on the issues that will shape our future: from artificial intelligence and sustainability to the promotion of democracy, innovation and health.

What can you expect?

We’re putting together a varied programme that looks beyond the horizon:

  • Inspiration: Talks on the key issues of our time.
  • Insights: Presentations of current research projects and innovative student projects from all departments.
  • Interaction: Practical workshops and seminars on skills relevant to the future.
  • Information: Our central departments will present their support services and opportunities for student involvement.
  • Discourse: Panel discussions with experts from our university and beyond.
  • Balance: A wide range of sports and health activities to join in and recharge.

HWR Teaching Award Ceremony

In 2026, HWR Berlin will present its Teaching Award for the first time, recognizing excellence in teaching, outstanding commitment, and innovative concepts. Nearly 400 students nominated over 100 lecturers. The winners were selected by the Commission for Studies and Teaching (LSK) and confirmed by the Academic Senate. The awardees will receive their certificates and medals during the University Day.

Marketplace of Opportunities

From 9:00 to 10:00, the Marketplace of Opportunities in the foyer of Building B offers a space for exchange and networking for all HWR members. Staff from various departments (e.g., research support, International Office), committees and representatives (e.g., staff council, equal opportunities officers), as well as studierendenWERK, will provide information on relevant HWR topics.

Keynotes

Look forward to inspiring keynote talks at both campuses:

  • Maren Urner (Psychology / Neuroscience)
  • Francis Seeck (Diversity)
  • Rushad Nanavatty (Start-ups & sustainable innovation)
  • Josef Holnburger (CEMAS)

Information for students

Participation counts as regular study time for all students. The University Day is an integral part of your studies. To fully benefit from the diverse program, all students are expected to attend a minimum number of sessions.

We will be using the Congeno app as the event platform. Here, you can view sessions including times, rooms, and short descriptions. Participation will be tracked via a point system—simply scan the QR code at each session. Further details will follow.

Note for staff

Participation counts as regular working hours for all staff in technical and administrative roles, as well as those in research and teaching (please note that no overtime or time off in lieu will be accrued on the day).

We look forward to an inspiring day with you!
