What made you decide to pursue a degree in Business Information Systems at HWR Berlin?

I grew up in a small village in Rhineland-Palatinate and really enjoyed village life. But when I turned 18, I wanted to see what life was like in a big city—and Berlin was the perfect place for that.

The dual degree program in Business Informatics at HWR Berlin made this move possible for me—both academically and financially. I met many inspiring people, developed personally, and had a wonderful time.

What situation, person, or experience at HWR Berlin do you remember most vividly, and why?

I especially remember my fellow students. Over the years, a close-knit group of friends formed—through shared, sometimes very intense study periods, many leisure activities, and even vacations together. These experiences made us friends for life. Without them, my studies would have been only half as enjoyable. The time we spent together created many unforgettable moments.

Was there an experience during your studies that had a lasting impact on you?

My semester abroad in Stockholm was a highlight of my studies, and I highly recommend a semester abroad to everyone. Even though organizing it was a bit more involved with the dual study program, it was absolutely worth the effort. I was particularly impressed by the teaching style in Sweden. To this day, I’m still in touch with many friends from that time—scattered all over the world and always worth a visit. Since 2023, I’ve been receiving financial support through an HWR Germany Scholarship. The Kontakte e.V. association at HWR Berlin has assigned me a mentor. In addition to financial support, the scholarship provides me with valuable connections to other scholarship recipients and sponsors.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working at Capgemini Invent, an IT consulting firm, as a working student in IT consulting, and I am pursuing my master’s degree at HWR Berlin. At Capgemini Invent, I work in the field of cloud transformation and, together with the Capgemini team, help companies develop their own cloud strategies, identify growth opportunities, and become more efficient and cost-effective through the use of the cloud.

What do you particularly appreciate about your current job?

I appreciate the flexibility in my job and the opportunity to contribute my own ideas. My studies helped me find the career path that suits me.

In my IT-focused work environment, I can usually work remotely and contribute to exciting, innovative projects. I especially appreciate the variety in consulting—you quickly gain a lot of experience and discover what you’re truly good at.

Would you recommend studying at HWR Berlin?

Yes, definitely—both the bachelor’s and master’s programs.
I especially recommend the dual Bachelor’s program because you gain a lot of practical experience and remain financially independent.

The Master’s program is also exciting, practical, and taught by dedicated professors. The small class sizes allowed for in-depth discussion.

How well did your studies prepare you for your current job? What experiences from your studies have you been able to apply to your professional life?

My bachelor’s program prepared me very well for my current job. It provides a broad, solid foundation of knowledge while also offering the opportunity to specifically deepen your personal strengths. Above all, the dual program, with its direct practical placements, gives you a realistic insight into everyday work life early on—and you quickly realize whether you enjoy the practical work just as much as the theory at the university.
