Sustainable Innovation Challenge 2025
We spent two days in Portrush and Belfast, Northern Ireland for the Sustainable Innovation Challenge.

Organised and delivered in partnership with the Ulster University, University of Liverpool, The Manchester Metropolitan University and The Berlin School of Economics and Law, the challenge was set-up by the The R&A and was aligned to the upcoming Open Championship and their Greenlinks Programme. Students focused on themes including embracing low-carbon technologies, moving toward a circular economy, promoting and protecting nature and enhancing social value.

Over these 2 days,13 mixed teams of students from the 4 universities worked together to create innovative solutions that have the potential to impact the hosting of the Open Championship in the years to come. The students presented their ideas to a panel of business advisors, and a winning team was chosen.
They improved their analytical thinking, presentation skills, intercultural competence and language skills, and had a lot of fun in the process.
A special thank you to all involved to create a brilliant learning experience for all participating students, leading to some truly actionable solutions for a real life business challenge.
