  • In addition to a Master's degree, an MBA in just one to two semesters
  • Flexible, online via digital learning platform and self-study
  • Internationally networked learning and working in a joint company project

Berlin, 3 July 2025 - The Berlin Professional School (BPS) of the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) and the Porto Business School (PBS) in Portugal are offering a new double degree programme from the winter semester 2025. Students of the continuing education programmes ‘Master of Science Business Management - Digital Business Management’ in Berlin and ‘Global Online MBA’ in Porto will have the opportunity to acquire two internationally recognised Master's degrees within one to two semesters - a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Strong partnership, international profile

The cooperation builds on an already successful collaboration between the two universities, which has existed for years within the framework of International Weeks and course exchanges in the ‘Berlin Part-Time MBA’ and ‘Master Business Marketing’ programmes. With the new double-degree programme, the partner institutions are sending out a strong signal for excellent, practice-oriented further education at a top European level.

The Porto Business School is a so-called Triple Crown Institution - it is one of only a few business schools worldwide that bear the seals of all three leading accreditation agencies: Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and Association of MBAs (AMBA). The MBA programmes at Berlin Professional School are accredited by both AMBA and the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

Digital, international, practice-oriented

The new degree programme is aimed at ambitious professionals who want to deepen their international leadership and management skills, participate in a real, international company project and at the same time expand their career opportunities in a targeted manner. Both degree programmes are conducted entirely online in English - with a structured combination of 80 percent self-study via a digital learning platform and 20 percent synchronous online teaching.

Students can also take part in selected face-to-face events. Particularly attractive: the second degree can be obtained in just one or two additional semesters thanks to targeted module selection and digital flexibility.

Curriculum with an international focus and practical depth

The content of the programme is closely interlinked: while the Berlin Professional School programme focuses strongly on digitalisation, business transformation and project work, the Global Online MBA programme at Porto Business School focuses on strategic management, international leadership and entrepreneurship. At the heart of the programme is a joint international company project that enables the transfer between theory and practice in small, intercultural teams.

Double perspective, double degree - maximum flexibility

"This double degree programme is a unique opportunity for our students to obtain an MBA from our renowned partner university, Porto Business School, in addition to their Master's degree at Berlin Professional School - flexibly, completely online and in just one or two additional semesters. This enables us to offer an internationally recognised second degree - without relocation, but with maximum impact," says Prof. Dr Martina Eberl, Deputy Director of the Berlin Professional School and Head of the degree programme.

The Director of the BPS, Prof Dr Christian Erdmann, also sees the cooperation as an important milestone: ‘This collaboration strengthens our role as a leading European business school by offering our students unique opportunities to expand their skills, perspectives and networks in a multicultural and high-quality academic environment.’

A gain for the portfolio of Berlin Professional School

With the new programme, Berlin Professional School is adding another unique selling point to its portfolio of part-time international Master's degree programmes. The double degree programme opens up additional career opportunities for students, strengthens the university's international profile and links two renowned alumni and business networks.
