Further information can be found in the module handbooks for the respective degree programmes.
All degree programmes offered by the Department of Police and Security Management are designed as full-time programmes. However, you may apply for an individual part-time study arrangement for personal reasons. Further information on part-time study and the application process can be found here.
Study organisation, examinations and internships
The semester dates and lecture-free periods are determined by the Academic Senate of HWR Berlin and published in the university’s official bulletins. Semester dates and deadlines can be found under “Semester Dates” on the Study Organisation page.
To continue your studies at HWR Berlin, you must re-register within the specified deadline by paying the semester contribution. The re-registration period and the amount of the semester contribution are published in S.A.M. at the beginning of the re-registration period. Please note that you cannot register for courses for the upcoming semester until the semester contribution has been paid.
The payment must be credited to the HWR Berlin account within the re-registration period. Otherwise, a late fee of €19.94 will be charged.
Once your payment has been processed by the university and the payment overview in S.A.M. shows a balanced account, you can update your CampusCard for the new semester at one of the validation machines. These are located at the Schöneberg Campus in the foyer of Building B and at the Lichtenberg Campus in the foyer of Building 1 and the entrance area of Building 6A.
In S.A.M., you can also access your certificate of enrolment, BAföG certificate and receipt for the semester contribution for the new semester.
If there are any holds in the S.A.M. campus management system, for example due to missing proof of health insurance or an outstanding examination counselling requirement, automatic re-registration cannot be completed. To submit missing documents, please contact the Office for Applications, Admissions and Enrolment.
If you do not re-register, you will automatically be de-registered at the end of the previous semester. After the regular re-registration deadline has passed, you can still re-register within the late-registration period by paying the additional late fee.
All information and processes relevant to the organisation and progression of your studies, including course registration, your current timetable and examination results, are available exclusively through S.A.M., HWR Berlin’s campus management system.
Any changes to or cancellations of classes can be viewed in S.A.M.
The examination periods are determined by the Department Council and published in the relevant schedules (see “Semester Dates” above). The specific dates of individual examinations can be found in S.A.M., HWR Berlin’s campus management system.
Information on course registration and withdrawal periods is provided each semester. Registration for an examination takes place automatically when you register for the corresponding course.
If you are unable to take an examination due to illness, you must submit the completed absence form together with the original medical certificate to the Examinations and Internship Office within three working days of the examination date. The documents must be submitted in person or sent by registered mail. Notification by email is not sufficient to meet the deadline.
The absence form can be found in Moodle or in the Study Handbook.
Each degree programme has its own internship regulations. The relevant internship regulations provide the legal framework. Please also refer to the information provided by the responsible internship coordinators.
Please use the login credentials that you automatically receive upon enrolment for all HWR Berlin information and communication systems. If you have forgotten your login details, you can find further information here.
Information on what to do if you have lost your CampusCard is available on the HWR Berlin IT website.
