The digital course was a collaborative project between the two universities; its topic was "Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility".

COIL stands for "Collaborative Online International Learning" and, despite the circumstances, gave the participating students the opportunity to work together in small international teams. It quickly became apparent during the work on joint presentations and getting to know each other that the cliché that teamwork or cultural exchange can only work in person is long outdated.

The project was divided into a lecture part and a dynamic teamwork phase. The students discovered a lot about the different legal frameworks of both countries and future challenges that the modern world brings with it, and explored dark and bright chapters of German and American history.

The focus was on an extensive case study in which the students were challenged to apply their newly acquired knowledge as well as sharpen their critical and analytical thinking skills. While the project itself is coming to an end, it is certainly the beginning of many more collaborations and transatlantic friendships.
